Super Mario Sunshine

Mario 64 was the first and one of the best games on the 64. Unfortunately, despite promises, we were never graced with a sequel that we deserved. Well now, on a new generation system, Mario finally has another 3-D adventure for us to play. The release date is set in Australia and it is marked on our calendars. We can only wait now, but I thought I would write a preview on how the game is shaping up.

Mario has taken a vacation to a tropical island, away from all the hopping, jumping and punching. What Mario thought was going to be a well deserved break turns out to be another adventure. Someone has gratified the island and Mario has been framed. So it is up to him to clean the island and his name. Mario is equipped with a water pack on his back that is used to wash graffiti, water plants and even be used to extend his jump. Mario has all the abilities that he had in Mario 64: long jump, triple jump, butt stomp and all the others you found in Mario 64 plus news ones. Mario cannot punch and kick but instead must use the water pack to defeat a number of enemies. I am unsure as whether Mario must travel to many levels or stay on the sole island but I am confident we will get much more gameplay then Luigi's Mansion.

The graphics are shaping up to be another visual treat. From screenshots and movies I can say everything is looking fine. Mario has great facial expressions, a smooth, perfectly rounded body and the island and its inhabitants are looking fine. I can not make much of the sound as the music in the movie seemed to be dubbed over but who knows, I'm sure it will be fine. It is hard to tell what you must do in Super Mario Sunshine apart from the fact you must clean up graffiti. Is Bowser behind this devious plan or is it someone else. Nintendo have managed to get people excited without letting out to much detail. They have got everybody turning heads. I'm sure Super Mario Sunshine is on everybody's wish list and we don't have too long to go, well a little while but we'll manage.

Super Mario Sunshine is looking to be a treat, I think Nintendo are doing big things with the GameCube and this is one of them. This game looks good in everyway and I'm sure it will rock the gaming world and become one of the greatest games out there. Only time will tell

ANTICIPATION RATING:

= BRING IT ON!
= Looking Good
= A Little Excitement
= Looks Much of the Same
= Let Microsoft have it
