Super Smash Bros: Melee
This is bigger than Michael Jackson. Bigger than the Beatles. Bigger than
Star Wars. Yes i'm talking about the ultimate sequel to the ultimate game. Super Smash Bros: Melee. The multiplayer madness from N64 is back on your little purple box. Scheduled about 2 weeks after launch it will change the course of history. It includes all of the original characters and more. The unlocked ones are:
Mario
Pikachu
Captain falcon
Bowser
Link
Peach
Kirby
Ness
Ice Climbers
Yoshi
Zelda/Sheik
Samus
Donkey Kong
Fox
All of these characters are playable from the start with old favourites
like Donkey Kong and Pikachu. There are also some new characters like Peach and Ice
climbers. They all have great visual presentation and unique moves. The Ice
Climbers actually work as a team with you controlling the one of your choice
and the other one being computer controlled jumping around to help you.
Besides these characters there are also some locked characters as well.
Some of these are clones as they have the same moves with different power
and visual effect to other characters but still feel like unique players
anyway. These include:
Dr Mario (Mario clone)
Young Link (I think he's a Link clone)
Luigi
Jiggly Puff
Mr Game and Watch
Pichu (I think its a Pikachu clone)
Falco (Fox clone)
Roy
Marth (These 2 are from an RPG only released in japan and their a clone of
each other)
Ganandorf (Captain Falcon clone)
As you can see once all unlocked you have a great list of characters at your
disposal. Also introduced is the combo moves much like tekken and other
fighting games you push certain buttons to release a special move. There are
still your basic and special attacks though. The game also comes with a
fantastic list of arenas including some unlocked ones as well. Your modes of
play for single player are Classic, which you play as you did in the first
game going through the stages fighting certain characters and teams. The new
addition is the side scrolling adventure mode. This puts you up against
minions like goombas and Re-deads until usually at the end you fight an
according boss. The versus mode is still there but you can (if you wish) add
some variations to it like camera mode and tiny mode. Another new addition is
trophy mode where you use coins from the game to unlock trophy's in a lottery
with thousands of Nintendo memorabilia available. There's everything from
paper boy to prince poo. You can then admire them in a variety of ways
individually or all together on a huge table. This is going to be the best
game of all time people and all though it isn't coming out on launch i'm
saving my money and not buying anything for the first 2 GameCube weeks or so
just to make sure I get my hands on this one.
