Nintendo: Do They Care?
Just recently I received an e-mail from a "PS2 fanboy" saying stuff like "Nintendo don't care about their fans" "you suck and so does Nintendo" blah blah blah the usual clap trap they rant on about. So it got me thinking why do people say things like Nintendo don't care about their fans. Nintendo are the best in the videogames business so why do people bag them out all the time?. Plain and simple. They are very secretive, they delay games all the time, they just get on your nerves. Every Nintendo fan would admit to it, but in the end Nintendo deliver the goods don't they. I just don't like it how people say Nintendo don't care because they do. If they didn't care you would see no GameCube, no N64, no Super NES, no NES, no Mario, no Zelda, no Metroid. People don't Realize how much Nintendo has done for them.
Games
Well the games....Nintendo aren't known for their "large range" of games like the PS2. They are known for quality. I for one don't want to see 50 crap games and 1 good game worth buying. Its pointless. Nintendo is (and if any PS fan reading this, you must admit it) the best at making videogames. No other company offers awesome games like the Super Mario series or Zelda. You wont see a Mario or Zelda game on any other console other than a Nintendo branded one. Don't let me forget Rare. Rare are the carriers (in my opinion) of Nintendo. Without them you wouldn't see quality games like Perfect Dark, CBFD, GoldenEye, Donkey Kong series, Star Fox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet. There has been awesome games on all systems, and the GameCube is no different. What other console offers you Super Mario Sunshine, Zelda, Metroid Prime, Perfect Dark Zero, Super Smash Bros: Melee, Luigi's Mansion, WaveRace: Blue Storm, Pikmin, Star Fox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet, well you get the drift. In the end you get what you want. you must realize how hard it is to make a videogame, sleepless nights, deadlines. It would be so hard. Not to mention screaming fan whinging about the release date etc. If you love Nintendo you would be used to it, for any new Nintendo fans: you will soon learn to stick with Nintendo through the good times and the bad, they will always prevail producing quality games.
Consoles
GameCube, N64, GameBoy Advance, Super NES, NES, GameBoy, GameBoy Pocket, GameBoy Color. These are just some of the consoles/handhelds Nintendo have produced. Just this variety is enough to take back the "Nintendo don't care about their fans" quote. No other company has made so many successful consoles ever. Nintendo are the best at it. Sure others have tried-trying (Sony, SEGA, Microsoft) but none are as yet successful.
Nintendo Of Australia
Probably at the start of the year I would have said NOAus don't care about Aussie Nintendo fans at all. With no proof that the GC was even coming to Australia. No news. People hadn't heard from the company for ages, no website, it was hard to say that there was a NOAus. Then fans started to complain. I don't blame them, I to was eagerly awaiting a GameCube release date, news, a new website etc etc. Then something changed. These past months NOAus have finally awaken. They have announced a GameCube release date, gotten themselves a new website (which is updated regularly), given people launch promo CD's when they pre-order a GameCube, and most importantly, have advertised the GameCube (T.V ads, At the AFL). When I talk to people who don't know anything about videogames, they actually tell me about the GameCube. Its a miracle. Just a few months back if I was to ask someone about the GameCube they most frequent response was "the what cube". NOAus still have a long way to go but at least they are doing something. Fan no longer will criticize NOAus (that much) because they are doing the best they can.
Conclusion
Well if you have bothered to actually read down here, you cant possibly say that Nintendo don't care about their fans. Yes they get on your nerves but hey, if there was no Nintendo you would be reading this. You wouldn't be waiting for the GameCube, you wouldn't have all those great Nintendo game moments. Instead you would be stuck with the Microsoft and Sony.
