James Bond: Agent Under Fire

OVERVIEW

Take control of James Bond, the world's most famous agent as you infiltrate heavily defended compounds and employ a ride range of weapons and gadgets. Also take to the streets in some of Bonds cars such as the BMW750IL and more. The story involves a Hong Kong based bio - technology firm and its parent company, Malprave Industries. Nightshade has gone missing and her investigation is of keen interest to M16. In other words you must travel through many countries shooting your way to rescuing the babe!

GRAPHICS

EA has done a fabulous job here and many would agree that this game has the best graphics to date apart from Star Wars and Luigi's Mansion. The character models all look great. The facial expressions are fantastic, especially Bonds when he make a quirky sexual based joke. The levels look fine and explosions and bullets look great. The cars look perfect and will show dints, smash windscreens and the like when you crash etc. The cut scenes look great and give that movie feel to the game. There are know pop - ups and fog is minimal. The speed is always smooth and constant; it will never slow down no matter how much is going on at one time. Lighting is fine. Overall there are no flaws whatsoever and what results is smooth, sharp visuals.

SOUND
Again, I can safely say there are no flaws. I am not a person who really cares about sound. As long as there isn't a sound or music so bad I notice it, I am happy. The levels have different music, usually a mix of the bond theme. The multiplayer levels have some great music to further enhance the action packed gameplay. The explosion and gun shots are marvelous and you will sometimes find yourself turning down the TV The lip - sync in the game are perfect. No speech is out of time with the mouth movements. Bond's voice is as close to Pierce Broslan himself. Overall the sound excels in quality.

GAMEPLAY
Excellent. Absolutely fantastic. The single player game involves multiple levels of gameplay. Usually you travel around the levels by foot and complete several objectives. The button layout for these levels is as follows:

A = Action Button
B = Use Gadget
X = Crouch
Y = Jump
R = Shoot
L = Manual Aim
Z = Alternate Fire
C Stick Up/Down = Look Up/Down
C Stick Left/Right = Strafe Left/Right
D Pad Up/Down = Select Weapon
D Pad Left/Right = Select Gadget

These levels are great fun and require both stealth and brute strength. The only flaw here, and one of the games big flaws is the ingame help. It tells you what to do not allowing you to think for yourself. This isn't as bad as it sounds because most FPS don't even involve using gadgets anyway. Apart from that these levels are fantastic and you get a large arsenal to deliver death to your enemy. Some levels require you to take control of Bonds cars or shoot from the back of a moving car. These levels are the most fun and remind of a short version of GTA3. The cars maneuver perfectly and using the weapons is easy and wont take your eyes of the road. The button layout for these levels is as follows:

Analogue = Steering
A Button = Fire Selected Weapon
B Button = Fire Machine Guns
Y Button = Select Weapon
R Button = Gas
L Button = Reverse/Brake
X Button= E - Brake
Z Button = Change View
C Stick Down = Look Behind

In total there are 12 levels which is a little small but you can play each level to get Platinum medals, which actually doesn't become tedious. The driving levels are always fun to play and will bring you back for more. So, you finally do get sick of the single player game, what do you do? Well get some friends and it is multiplayer time. Don't have friends? Well throw in some bots. The multiplayer is fantastic and the ability to use the Q-Claw and Jetpack makes the experience so much better. There are plenty of levels and characters to choose from plus al the weapons from the single player mode. Some are opened up by getting gold medals in single player mode so again, another reason to play the single player mode again. Although the multiplayer isn't as good as Perfect Dark it is much better then Goldeneye and will last until the next Perfect Dark or Timesplitters 2.

LASTABILITY
The single player game will take a while to finish and getting all platinum medals will prove a great challenge. The multiplayer is fantastic. The four modes (kill, protect flag, diffuse bombs and kill the strong guy) will last a great deal of time. There are extra characters, weapons, levels and modifiers to open up to further enhance the multiplayer experience. Will last until the next PD or TS2.

FEATURES
· Great single player mode with different types of gameplay
· Solid Multiplayer mode
· Hidden Features
· Naked Women :D
· Huge Arsenal of Weapons and Gadgets
· Ability to drive Bonds classic cars

FINAL THOUGHTS

Although the games single player mode is a little short, the great multiplayer mode will serve as the games saving grace. The look, sound and overall appeal in the game make it a worthy game to add in your collection. The next Perfect Dark is a long way off so until then Agent Under Fire will serve as your Shoot em' Up fix.
